Abstract
CHANGE OF HARVEST PATTERN OF CATFISH CULTURE TO MAXIMISE IT PROFIT (CASE STUDY OF SIFANA FARMER) Edhie Rosman The study of change of harvest pattern of catfish culture to maximize its profit was conducted from February to July 2003 at SifanaFarmer, Cianjur. The aim of this study was to determine a maximum profit of catfish culture from three different harvest pattern i.e., 1-6, 1-3 as well as 4-6 months. The study was also to investigate all factors which are influenced the catfish culture. Primary and secondary resources of data were used in an analysis of the study. Primary data was collected by distributing questioners to 40 fish farmers, whereas secondary data was obtained from sifana farmer who managed 48 units of catfish culture. The data obtained were analyzed by two methods: cost profit volume (CPV) and simple profit calculation (output - input). The study showed that harvest pattern of 1-3 months gave the highest profit compare to 1-6 as well as 4-6 months by using cost profit volume analysis. This however was not the profitable method of harvest because of high risk of production, such as high mortality rate of fish. The most profitable harvest method was 4-6 months.
