Abstract

This study was aimed to compare the management performance of planning and controlling of raw material based on two methods (conventional or recent method and Monte Carlo Simulation Method), which could give recommendation to PT Cedefindo. This research was carried out using case study approach on document analysis. The data was obtained on monthly report of the year 2002 until 2003 from PT Cedefindo. The data con-sisted of 176 raw materials and 32 products of Pareto A Class. Data was analyzed using Time Series Forecasting Method (Moving Average Method, Single Exponential Smoothing Method and Double Exponential Smoothing Method) and Monte Carlo Simu-lation Method. The result showed that there was just small different value of end stock raw material at the end of the year 2004 using the conventional and the simulation method. The study suggested that PT Cedefindo should periodically evaluate average raw materials usage based on Monte Carlo Simu-lation Method to get up to date average usage of raw materials to predict the inventory level for next period.
