Abstract

SPR Maju Bersama is one of the locations Social School Animal Husbandry (SSAH) application of the concept that aims to encourage small-scale beef cattle breeders consolidating build collective enterprise professionally managed under one management. SSAH formed to change the mindset, knowledge and the ability of breeders in order to become entrepreneurs a reliable and independent in carrying out the business of beef cattle. In achieving its objectives, the organization has not been able to run its business model effectively necessitating new strategies to improve the business model. SPR Maju Bersama also need to design a prototype of a new business model as a business development strategy in the future. The purpose of this study: 1) identify the "school" program and the business model of beef cattle are run SPR Maju Bersama; 2) perform a SWOT assessment on each element in the business model; 3) formulate strategies for program improvement "school"; 4) designing the prototype business model as beef cattle business development strategies in the future. In this study used a combination of approaches business model canvas (BMC) and the SWOT matrix in formulating strategies for program improvement "school". To create a prototype model of the new beef cattle business, used a combination of BMC and four acts frameworks on a blue ocean strategy. The results showed the necessary improvements to each element of the business model "school" through the improvement strategies that have been prepared. The strategy includes: 1) increase the number of farmer members; 2) apply the concept of "agrosilvopastura" to optimize the management of natural resources; 3) increase the intensity of assistance through e-learning; 4) improve the quality and intensity of the relationship between management and farmers; 5) develop curricula, programs and guide books as well as strengthen the system of membership; 6) expand the partnership by utilizing information technology and existing business partners; 7) establish training centers and services as a resource in the field of SPR and beef cattle; 8) utilizes a strong partnership to change the mindset of farmers; 9) increasing leadership skill and the ability to use communications technology in the management of SPR. For beef cattle business development, designed two prototype models based on mapping results through SWOT and brainstorming activities. The idea of innovation on the prototype model 1 focuses on offering new value propositions and prototype models II centered on several points such as customer segments, value propositions, and key partnerships. In the first prototype business model offers market model as a container auction sales of beef cattle collectively and prototype models II offers processed meat products that rely on partnerships and e- commerce as a distribution channels.
