Abstract

Prospects for the development of the palm oil industry is currently very rapid world, where an increase in palm oil production in line with the increasing needs of the community. With the amount of production that can be produced, of course, this is a positive impact for the economy of Indonesia, both in terms of its contribution to state revenues, as well as the amount of labor absorbed in this sector. Oil palm plantations and processing industry in Indonesia plays an important role for the country's economy. Exports of palm oil is an important foreign exchange earner and industries that provide employment opportunities for millions of people of Indonesia. The positive potential of the development of the palm oil industry also have negative side effects of palm oil production. In addition to its impact on human health because they contain high levels of fat, palm oil business became one of the causes of deforestation in countries like Indonesia and Malaysia. See challenges in the development of the palm oil industry in Indonesia and the future prospects are influenced by national economic growth and international, environmental issues, legal certainty and others, then it becomes an interesting study for plantation companies, especially private sector in determining the strategic direction of business development. The results showed that PT Bumitama Gunajaya Agro has a total score of matrix Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE) was 2.577 which indicates the position of internal company able to utilize its power to minimize them in order to implement the development strategy of the company. Total score matrix External Factor Evaluation (EFE) PT Bumitama Gunajaya Agro is 2.369, indicating that the company take advantage of opportunities to reduce the threat of possible incurred in order to develop the company. Strength (strength) internally owned by PT Bumitama Gunajaya Agro which is strategic: the ability to get sales margins optimal, Stocks technologies such as brand, innovation operational system, the structure of formal reporting companies, system control and coordination, and reputation with customers. While the weakness (weakness) internally owned PT Bumitama Gunajaya Agro today include favorable plant location, access to raw materials; and the ability to motivate and build family relationships between employees. Opportunities (opportunities) owned by PT Bumitama Gunajaya Agro is implementing operational practices that are environmentally friendly be selling in the oil palm business, their hedging policies for CPO products, the opportunity to develop business CPO biodiesel sector, the opportunity to improve operations through research institutions and government policies to support the development of palm oil industry through BPDP scheme. While threats (threats) facing PT Bumitama Gunajaya Agro currently include environmental issues related to black campaign CPO business, opening concessions moratorium land for palm oil, and the impact of price fluctuations. Position PT Bumitama Gunajaya Agro were maintained and kept in the palm oil industry, it is appropriate to do by doing a lot of improvement and development as well as market penetration strategy that is not too defensive and not too offensive because they are classified in the medium category. From the results obtained 5 IE Matrix alternative strategy Strategy The first priority should be done by PT Bumitama Gunajaya Agro is building a network with the community in terms of expansion of the plasma opening a one-stop management. That accelerated process of land clearing on areas that have been increasingly productive by utilizing plasma landbank to land.
