Abstract

Supporting staff (Tendik) of Andalas University (UNAND) are State Apparatus Management (SAM) who are on duty in higher education. Tendik are community members dedicating themselves and appointed to support higher education delivery, namely librarians, administrators, laboratory assistants and technicians, as well as information technical institution. This research aims to analyze the employee engagement of Tendik in UNAND in the form of descriptive quantitative research. Descriptive analysis is employed to describe the demographic characteristics of UNAND’s Tendik which are used as example. Quantitative method is utilized to obtain primary data from the respondents by filling out the questionnaire. The sampling technique used in this research is stratified random sampling technique with total sample of 224 respondents. The result of measurement of UNAND's employee engagement level shows that Tendik with the engaged criteria amount to 3.1% and Tendik with the disengaged criteria amount to 7.1%. Based on working unit, most of Tendik with the engaged criteria exist in Faculty of Economy with the percentage of 11.1% and Faculty of Animal Husbandry is the major contributor of Tendik with the disengaged criteria with the percentage of 23.1%. The result of logisticregression analysis reveals that the career variable gives the most dominant influence on employee engagement of Tendik with influence value of 160.568. Biplot analysis is employed to map the closeness of attributes to the working units of UNAND. Faculty of Economy is the working unit which has closeness with the variable of working condition, co-workers, career, and rewards. Faculty of Agriculture has closeness with the variable of motivation to develop and leadership. On the other hand, Rectorate, Faculty of Medical Studies, and Faculty of Animal Husbandry have no closeness with any of the variable of employee engagement.
