Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyse the differences of productivity and profitability before and after the implementation of inventory information system with consideration on the quality of information and to give recommendation on information quality improvement according to users perception. This study was descriptive and done using survey method within one month. The data was collected from the questionnaire of 15 direct users and 1 senior management in the form of information quality, information needs and resources used. Data of productivity and profitability was prepared by Accounting Department in the form of factual value for 4 months before and 4 months after the implementation. The result of this study indicated the quality of information was categorized as good quality, but this implementation did not show the improvement of productivity and profitability. This was related to evolution of information system, which was in initiation stage and poor management in the area of compensation, working load and human resources. However, this implementation had become as a tool for the possibility of the improvement of profitability and productivity in the future. The result of this study proposed several enhancement of information system such as error correction handling, graphically data presentation, interaction of development team and its training, future data presentation, good implementation procedure, its regular review and better training to users so their knowledge about information system would be getting better. It was also recommended to pay more attention on the factors beside the information system, such as human resources, compensation management and fair workload and responsibilities.
