Abstract

Competition in industry is a common thing. However, a company must anticipate the competition in order to survive. From the vision, mission and objective of PT. Parindo Permai, we know that one of the company's objectives is to gain profit by producing particle board products with good quality and maximizing the growth rate of the company. In the process, however, the company will encounter obstacles which one of them is competition. In order to succeed to face the competition, a company must establish a strategy to achieve the company's objective as indicator of competition advantages. Analyses are done by two methods, which are SWOT Matrix Analysis to find out the factors influencing the competition and finding the alternatives strategy. Also Value Chains Analysis to explain the activities of company value as well as indicator of competition advantages. From the two analyses, ws can conclude and arrange the strategy to face the competition as follow : (a) Short terms Strategies : (1) to maintain efficiency for outbound logistic activities also marketing and human resource activities, (2) to increase the activities for operational production also inbound logistic and purchasing, (3) to keep stable the activities for company's infrastructure. (b) Long terms Strategies : (1) to build the activities for services also research and development, (2) to apply the cost leadership strategy, (3) Repositioning the product to become a prime product, (4) Machinery investment to raise the output capacity.
