Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing the employee's motivation to improve their working productivity at PT Makro Indonesia. PT Makro Indonesia is the pioneer and one of the biggest retail companies in Indonesa which adopts the concepts of cash and carry store, The data were collected from the head quarter's and pasar rebo store's employees at all levels and all units using stratified random sampling, Factors analysis and analysis of variance were used to analyze the data collected. The results of the study showed that there were ten factors influencing the employee's motivation. The ten factors are 1) Superintendent's interpersonal skill, 2) technical supervision and achievement, 3) salary, policies and administrations, 4) involvement in giving suggestions and ideas, 5) social security and status, 6} responsibility, 7) interpersonal relationsbip, 8) company's future, 9) lebaran and Christmas allowance and 10) working conditions, The results suggested that PT Makro Indonesia has to improve the implementation of its open door policy and interpersonal relationsbip among the employees, especially among superiutendents and staffs, to make a survey of employees motivation find satisfaction and also customer's satisfaction, to pay attention and to follow up the results' of employee's committee, to give bonus for the sales target achievement, to improve training and to develop reward - punishment 's program for the implementation of the training results , to develop innovativeness and creativeness culture, to develop awareness and responsibility on company's productivity and finally to improve the HRD's administration and services.
